Today, we’re tackling Governor Bill Lee’s special session, a political spectacle tying illegal immigration and Hurricane Helene disaster relief to a relentless push for school vouchers. Why the rush for a special session when we’re already in the middle of a regular one? And let’s not gloss over the fiscal note: 13,000 out of 20,000 vouchers are set to benefit kids already in private schools.
What about the double-dipping scheme where public schools still receive funding for students who leave with vouchers? And the precedent set in Knox, Memphis, and Chattanooga, where taxpayer dollars now fund private schools that have controversial religious affiliations and cultural ideology (LGBTQ agendas).
